Jamison update: Spring 2008
Dear Friends and Family:
We are hoping all is going well wherever you are.
Spring is here in Sacramento and we are enjoying the lovely weather.
Yesterday we went on a Callie Club outing to a flower farm and then to a winery, both in Amador County. After two years of traveling to Kentucky for Derby Week, we decided to stay home this year and recoup from our local Highland Games held the last weekend in April.
We've taken two trips to Honolulu so far this year, one to finalize closing on the Waikiki condotel property that we bought, and one to attend the Hawaii Scottish Games. We also had a lovely trip to the San Antonio area to attend our Air Force Nurse niece's wedding. We went with two of Chuck's sisters and their husbands. We also spent some time in the hill country with the Calverts. We plan to drive to 29Palms later this month to donate Marine Corps related books to the library at the base. They were Chuck's late grandfather's, who retired from the Marine Corps after many years of service. He died several years ago, and 29Palms was his last duty station.
Chuck is as busy as ever doing piping gigs - Change of Commands, funerals, weddings, parties. His term as Chief of the Caledonian Club is winding down, but he is the President of the St. Andrews Society for 2008. He is also taking a college computer class this semester to help him with his websites. He has his own and one that he's designed for his high school graduating class.
Trix is keeping busy with the traveling, the grand kids and knitting wool helmet liners for the troops. If any of you want to help, go to www.geocities.com/helmetliner for information. We are sending care packages to the troops weekly, but are holding these liners until they are needed next winter. A local Girl Scout troop got involved in the knitting project through a friend. The youngest is about 8, so those of you who knit can surely make them. Let us know if you have questions. There is more information on how you can support the troops on our website: www.2jamisons.com
Cheers
Chuck and Trix

Prepare yourself
for this one - maybe with a Stoli martini or two. Back in the days of the Soviet Union, the Soviet
Red Army had an official choir composed of male soldiers and musicians. It
still exists. The Red Army Choir performs throughout Russia to this day. Now consider the Finnish rock band called The
Leningrad Cowboys. A little while ago, they held a concert in Russia, in which
- to the screaming applause of Russkie teen-agers - they got the Red Army Choir
to join them on stage for a performance of "Sweet Home Alabama." In English.
You couldn't make this up.
